The Facility Manager directs the Facility Departments at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester, MA (79 beds); BayRidge Hospital a 62 bed highly acute behavioral health hospital in Lynn, MA; and Lahey Outpatient Center in Danvers, which includes an ambulatory health center with outpatient surgery.
The position requires knowledge of local, state and national building codes, NFPA Standards, and The Joint Commission Standards. The position also includes budget development and management responsibilities and accountability for specific cost centers. A creative, pro-active and forward thinking facilities management professional to lead and manage the day-to-day maintenance activities is sought. The Manager will guide both skilled and non-skilled tradespersons, and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance of the physical environment; building automation systems; and energy management. The Manager will be a key team member assisting in the design and construction process relative to plant operations. The position reports to the Senior Director of Facilities / Support Services and there are nine (9) direct reports.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or similar technical degree is required, and a Master’s Degree is preferred. In lieu of a degree, an appropriate combination of experience, certifications, and licensing, may be considered, to include a demonstrated record of successful employee management skills, including but not limited to employee discipline, performance evaluation, and growth and development, for greater than five years.
Five to ten years of health care facilities management (maintenance systems) experience, including five years minimum supervisory experience preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills and strong customer service skills; thorough knowledge of utility systems (ideally as defined by The Joint Commission Standards) and hospital equipment in general. Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager preferred, or required within 5 years of employment. Must have completed 2012 edition e-learning or instructional class on the Health Care Facility Code and Life Safety Code 101; or ability to do so upon hire.
The ideal applicant will bring a demonstrated history of the effective management of diverse teams and the ability to think strategically to solve complex problems. Organizational skills are very important to assist in the challenging management of multiple locations.
